Here is a tough to find post prohibition brewery beer box from the Peerless Brewery in Washington, MO, just outside St. Louis. Cardboard boxes of this era are generally difficult to find as they were simply not as durable as their wooden counterparts.
Featured here is a very hard to find tobacco tin from the College Yell brand of smoking pipe tobacco. This tin was made about 1910-1920 era.
This subtle and non-descript but brilliantly colored blue and gold serving tray was never meant to tout the breweries products. It was simply designed to serve as a reminder of the brewery and their products as a choice for the saloon or tavern patron. Typically brewers oftentimes added a specific type of beer they were…
The West End Brewing Company formerly based in Utica, New York prior to prohibition certainly tried to emulate a high society feel to their beer based on the image used on this self-framed tin sign from the 1900 era. I love this image as the featured woman is leaning back alongside the fire, a small…
This particular advertising lithograph from the Franz Falk Brewing Company which was based in Milwaukee, WI during the pre-prohibition era is one of my favorites. Breweriana collectors today are always interested in advertising images which contain the brewery or factory scene in the piece. The incorporation of the Falk Brewery in the bottom inset certainly…
I have always loved this early 1900’s era tin advertising sign from the L. Kahner & Co. Cigar Makers based in New York City. The vibrant colors of this particular sign really pop, and the name “Fortune Teller” would certainly peek most peoples interest even today. The idea of a fortune teller being able to…
This particular Golden Pheasant Marshmallow can from the Pacific Coast Candy Company is an interesting combo to say the least. How the use of the word “pheasant” and “marshmallow” came to be added together to form a product name is beyond my imagination. However, it was approximately 100 years ago, and as a result, modern…
Veterans across America were given a nice salute essentially when the Crescent Brewing Company which was based in Marionville, MO produced a beer called “Old Veteran” back in the 1930’s. This particular tin over cardboard designed sign recognizes veterans with a twist, that being the crescent moon shaped character on the left side of the…
This rare lithograph is a beautiful example of an early advertisement from the one time leader of snuff tobacco, Leyman & Bro. Manufacturers, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the late 1800’s and early 1900 era. This particular lithograph shows a bunch of soldiers standing around admiring their product, and possibly one standing at a counter…
