C. Person's Sons Buffalo Club Whiskey Sign, Buffalo, N.Y., Circa 1905

The C. Person’s and Sons Distillery and Importer Company out of Buffalo, N.Y. sign illustrates a symbol of strength, while also giving a nod to their own cities namesake.   What better symbol of pure strength is there besides a buffalo?  The Buffalo Club brand was their main brand, however, the Riverside Rye brand was also one of their prolific selling brands.

Started in 1850, Charles Person built his business from a very small single man operation to one which later employed all six of his boys.   The business was located at 390-392 Elm Street in downtown Buffalo.  Unfortunately like so many other pre-prohibition era liquor manufacturers, this business closed with the start of prohibition in 1920, never to return as a company with this name.
