Festal Hall Coffee Tin, Goddard Coffee Co., St. Louis, MO. Ca. 1904

What a beautiful tin can! The Goddard Grocer Company which was based in St. Louis, MO but had offices in Hannibal, MO, Cape Girardeau, MO and in Marion & Cairo, Illinois. The company was a well known local coffee producing distributor along with other store bought goods of which they were a wholesaler for. While Goddard produced several different brands of coffee, perhaps their best seller was the Festal Hall brand, which clearly celebrated the 1904 World’s Fair celebration which was held in Saint Louis. The image on the can shows the Festival Hall building on the fairgrounds, and as a result, produced the name Festal Hall. The Festal Hall coffee can is found today by collectors in both a one and a three pound version. I do not believe I have ever seen another size of this particular coffee brand.

The Goddard Grocer Company was based at 413 & 415 S. 7th Street in downtown Saint Louis in the early 1900’s. Originally called Goddard and Peck Company, the business later was changed to the Goddard name only. The Goddard Grocer company was simply a wholesaler for all things food related and other industries in the 1900 era.
