Payroll Tobacco Lithograph. Circa 1910

I like this lithograph because it is very simple. If you chew Payroll Tobacco it will be a “Sure Winner”. Okay, how much more simple is an advertising campaign than that? Everyone wants to purchase a good high quality brand, and apparently if you bought Payroll tobacco you were going to get a winning or quality product every time. This lithograph is from the early 1900’s and features a military leader of some sort, but I do not know which country or branch of service he is representing. Whatever who he was, he was a leader, all decked out in his military medal glory. This lithographic advertisement regardless of its simplicity is a winner, just as it advertised the Payroll brand of cut plug tobacco was too.
