THE DE LAVAL CREAM SEPARATOR COMPANY

Delaval Separators Sign, Circa 1900

One of my favorite advertising pieces is from the De Laval Cream Separator Company and features a young mother with her child using the DeLaval Cream separator to get her milk.   This particular scene was used on both small tip trays as well as the larger self-framed metal lithographic sign shown here.  While De Laval advertising is pretty common, this particular 1900 era large round sign is not as easy to find as other signs the company produced in later years.

The De Laval brand was so popular that it is relatively easy to find small wood cabinets with the companies logo on the front tin cabinet face.   Many of the New York City and Chicago based companies advertising incorporated the slogan “The World’s Standard” in it.   Given the popularity of the brand, and the amount of early advertising still available from the company, it is easy to imagine this being true.
