Featured is a beautiful metal serving tray from the Robert Portner Brewery which was based in Alexandria, Virginia just outside Washington, D.C. prior to prohibition. Like many pre-prohibition trays, the Fortner brewery incorporated a beautiful scene of their massive brewery complex, but also snuck in a bottle of Hofbrau while advertising by name that brand and also the Tivoli brand on this particular tray.
The Robert Portner brewery was located at the intersection of St. Asaph and Pendelton streets in Alexandria, VA. Incorporated in 1883, the brewery was officially closed in 1916 when the state of Virginia enacted prohibition several years before the rest of the country went officially dry in 1920.
