The Novelty Advertising Company

The Novelty Advertising Company was located in Coshocton, OH and was founded in 1895 by former local newspaperman William Shaw. Mr. Shaw started the Novelty Advertising Company after leaving his previous position as a production partner for the Tuscarora Advertising Company which was the very first promotional products company in the world, also based in Coshocton.

The company incorporated in 1900. Many of the products they manufactured included metal signs, serving trays, hats, horse blankets, calendars, rulers, thermometers and even flyswatters for various companies and industries. The Novelty Advertising Company is still in business today and is America’s oldest promotional products producer.
